Give and Get

An account, in email form, of the care taking of the exchanges.

Lin,
Getting ready 4 this eve – object exchange in the studio. Objects you sent not yet here but will get them if they arrive today's post.

E,
The bagless array looks interesting - more open, more of a feast for the eye. Also, leaving the exchanges as events rather than sorting into chains give the whole thing a more communal feel. The aspects that are lost are the privacy of contained objects and the personal messages and stories attached to them. Possibly, the bags add to the sense of ownership as well.
What about Wednesday for a session?
Do you know about starbucks' book exchanges?

L -
Yes, I like the freeform version too - I intended to do bags but it was actually very busy, so it wasn't possible to track everything. another drawback of not using bags is that people don't make a note of the website address (I had a handout, but few people took one)
Other interesting aspects:
- The stock grows more disordered / organic over time this way (see the Altoids and Hershey's kisses sprinkled about at the end of the night for instance)
- I continued to take donations, and people want to give them
- Also, there was some theft - of a $10 bill, and an old broken automobile tool I found in the street
I did take photos of the pairs described in the text to put online (see 1 eg attached).
Yes to Wednesday - name the time.
No don't know about Starbucks will look up.
Have you heard of 'Found' magazine? Someone mentioned it - haven't yet looked it up.
xx Em

Lin - Thanks 4 email.
Because I wasn't in the studio for first friday, I put the objects outside the door with a pen and paper for recording. 7 more exchanges.... Still not as much engagement as we'd want perhaps, but I like the way the trades are accreting.
